"Classic: A book which people praise and don't read."
- Mark Twain.

Welcome Ladies and Gents, to NOT THE CLASSICS the place for all those obsessive readers who may feel under read and under appreciated because they haven't read Willy Shakespeare, Dante, or Charles Dickens. While we have nothing against them or classics in general they just aren't our cup of tea.

Your commuinty originators, maintainers and hosts are the lovely and very well read (not of classics of course)rollwitme and black_kitten. If you have any questions or issues please contact them at the email above.

Our goal is to bring obsessed readers, like ourselves, together so that we can all discuss any and everything dealing with the love of reading. Who's your favorite author? Why? What was the last book you read? What are five books that you would consider classics that most people wouldn't? And if, by chance, you are a classic lover and you decided to join us in our realm tell us why you love the classics so much. What is your favorite? Why?

Upon joining please post your favorite 5 - 10 books to introduce yourself, and spark intellectual conversation, or just random comments.

Also monthly we will have a circle read. What that means is we will take suggestions and at the beginning of every month a title will be posted for all the members to read. On the twentieth of the month the community will be opened for discussion of the choosen book. That way we all get some versatility in our reading as well as a forum to commune and discuss it. This, however, is not mandatory to become a member just an extra benefit of being one!

We only have two rules for Not The Classics and they are as follows:

1) Be respectful of EVERYONE posting here. We all share a common love even if our opinions or beliefs on certain works differ from time to time. No bashing. If it's rude or crude just keep it to yourself.

2) No personal posts. By that we mean no life stories or gory details unless relevant to this community or a book being read or discussed.

If either of the above rules are broken you will be warned once. Upon the second offense you will be removed from the community. We're not stuck up and snobbish but we aren't push overs either.
